Menorca Beaches and Menorca Resorts (Menorca, Spain)
Although Menorca has fewer beaches than the nearby islands of Mallorca and Ibiza, and these tend to be quieter and less crowded. There are still plenty of beaches Menorca for sunworshippers, and many have excellent beach facilities, fine, golden sand and clear, blue waters.
Some of the best beaches in Menorca can be found to the at the eastern end of the island of the south coast. There are also an increasing number of beaches being developed west of Santa Galdana and the local Menorca beach resorts of Cala en Bosch and Son Xoriguer are gaining popularity. There are also many more private, secluded beaches and coves in Menorca and it is still possible to find a quieter spot.
During the summer, most beaches in Menorca have lifeguards. Many beaches have swimming areas marked by buoys, although this does not mean that swimming outside these areas is prohibited. There are usually notice boards at the entrances to the beaches in Menorca, listing the facilities available, such as showers and wheelchair access. Smaller beaches in Menorca do not have lifeguards, but swimming is usually safe and the beaches are generally sited in small coves with calm waters. Topless sunbathing on Menorca beaches is acceptable and in the resorts, people tend to spend most of their time in beachwear.
Menorca Beach - Son Bou - Menorca, Spain
The longest beach in Menorca, Son Bou is around 3 km / 2 miles long. With fine sand and calm waters, the beach is a popular place for sunbathing and swimming. At the eastern end of the Son Bou beach are the ruins of an early Menorca Christian church.
Menorca Beach - Els Canutells - Menorca, Spain
The golden beach of Els Canutells is situated at the end of a narrow, sheltered bay that cuts deep into the island of Menorca. Els Canutells beach is located on the eastern part of the bay and is an excellent place for swimming in the sea.
Menorca Beach - Cala Binisafuller - Menorca, Spain
Located between Punta Prima and Cap d'En Font, Cala Binisafuller beach in Menorca is around 40 metres / 130 feet in length. The beach is mainly used by tourists staying at hotels nearby.
Menorca Beach - Cala Binibeca - Menorca, Spain
Menorca's Cala Binibeca is a particularly wide beach and is situated close to Binibeca Vell. Cala Binibeca beach and the surrounding area remain fairly undeveloped and there is also a car park and restaurant nearby.
Menorca Beach - Cala Alcaufar - Menorca, Spain
Cala Alcaufar beach in Menorca is situated on the south-east coast of the island and runs along the bay.
Menorca Beach - Punta Prima - Menorca, Spain
This is the southerly of Menorca's beaches and is also one of the most popular beaches on the island of Menorca. Punta Prima beach has some splendid views and overlooks nearby rocky areas.
